- bankers from Britian invested in Canadian government bonds and railroads
- after WW1 British investment slowed down
- American investment increased
- mostly minning, pulp and paper, and hydroelectric power
- Americans introduced the branch plant system
- companies that came from America to Canada could be marked as " Made in Canada "
- some agreed and some didn't
- some Canadians felt that this would ruin there economy
